This is a pretty simple Bunny puzzle/model that I made in Illustrator. If people want, I can clean up my design file and share it…
I made a bunch of these for my family’s kids to put together at Easter. They enjoyed coloring the pieces with crayons before fitting them together.
It’s pretty straightforward. For this project I used baltic birch plywood from Woodpeckers. I doublesided taped the 12×12″ sheets on top of a piece of waste material (so that cutting through all the way wouldn’t damage my wasteboard), then cut them out! You could also use tabs, but for me it was easier to just watch the pieces get cut out with a pick in hand in case something wasn’t sticking to the tape. That way I could just pause the job, pull the piece and resume. Seemed easier than tabs for a lot of pieces.
My plywood was pretty spot on at 3.2mm. These pieces fit tight after a bit of light sanding with high grit paper 220+…
If your material is a little thicker or thinner, you could probably scale the design up or down a bit to make the notch size fit your material. Cut a pair of front legs or something as a quick test to see if your notches fit each other.
If you make these or make them with a different material or something cool, I’d love to see! If you make these sets to sell, all I ask is you link back to this page in product descriptions.
