There are three different styles for this trivet in the Easel file; hexagon, square, and a teardrop. They all utilize the same basic teardrop-shaped pattern for the design.
Open the Easel file’s workpieces and decide which one you are going to carve. Regardless of which one you choose, you’ll need to use a 1/4" bit for the cutout v-bit for the engraving. The workpieces are labeled to help you decide which one to carve. Feel free to move things around and make your own pattern or trivet shape!

Using a 90-degree v-bit, carve the pattern of your trivet first.
20 minutes
Once the v-carving is complete, swap out your bit for something hefty enough to carve through your material. Since my trivet is 3/4" thick, I opted for a 1/4" spiral upcut to carve out the hexagon shape. Bambook is a softer wood, so it carved nicely with a larger bit.
15 minutes
Sand down any rough edges. I always find that a little bit of mineral oil helps bring out the beautiful patterning of wood, especially bamboo plywood.
Once the oil sets, enjoy your new trivet!
