The master project page is at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:127968 and build instructions are also listed as a Make Magazine project here: http://makezine.com/projects/guide-to-3d-printing-2014/scan-o-tron-3000/
The current 3D printable models can be downloaded from Thingiverse. I print my parts 100% solid. You will need 2 makerslide endcaps.
You will also want to build a Heavy Duty Lazy Susan for Full Body Scanning. This is the platform the scanning subject will ride on while being scanned. The instructions for this part may be found here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:28454 See the Make Magazine build instructions here: http://makezine.com/projects/guide-to-3d-printing-2014/heavy-duty-turntable/
Assemble the two 3D printed parts of the carriage hinge- I used a piece of 3mm filament as the pin and melted the tips of it to prevent it coming loose. Glue the Kinect mount on the end of the large carriage hinge.
Glue together the two parts of the guillotine drop piece and so it can be placed on the carriage hinge.
Drill the back of the smaller hinge part and bolt it to the Makerslide carriage plate
Makerslide- cut the 1000mm piece down to 600mm
40x 20 Aluminum Extrusion
3 × 500mm sections (for base)
4 × 200mm sections for crossbars
• Splice the 600mm and 1800mm section of Maker Slide together (600mm side will be on the bottom).
• Fashion a base with the 3 lengths of 500mm aluminum extrusions, using the Extrusion Brackets to hold them together.
• Connect the long Maker Slide section to an 1800mm section of Aluminum Extrusion, using the 4 200mm segments and Extrusion Brackets to hold them together.
• Attach the vertical section to the base using the Extrusion Brackets.
• Use the 2 500mm 20×20mm lengths of extrusion as diagonal supports between the base and vertical Makerslide, attaching them with Extrusion Brackets.
Finish the carriage using the Dual Bearing V wheel wheels, Aluminum Spacers, Eccentric Spacers, 25mm Socket Head Cap Screws, Washers and Nuts. Tie a string to the carriage top and mount it on the Maker Slide.
Put skateboard bearings into the 3D printed Rod Bearing 1 and 2 parts, then mount them onto the extrusion at about waist height. Put the threaded rod through and bolt the filament reel in place.
Assemble filament spool with the “bearing discs”, so it will mount on the threaded rod. Use Washers and nuts to keep it in position. Cut off excess threaded rod. Attach a cabinet knob to the filament reel as a handle for turning it.
Put the 3D printed endcaps on the tops of the rig and then put clothesline pulleys in them(I got mine from Home Depot: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-2-1-2-in-White-Clothesline-Pulley-14062/202305414#.Uf8EPWn724R). Thread the string over the top of the rig and back down to the filament spool.
Place the Guillotine drop piece on the carriage hinge, then put several rubber bands around the two sides of the hinges and mount the Kinect onto the carriage hinge. You are now ready to begin scanning.
